Civil Society Strategy: Building a Future that Works for Everyone
In its new Civil Society Strategy, published August 2018, the Government sets out how it will work with and for civil society in the long-term to create a country that works for everyone.
The Strategy, focused on the creation of social value, is built around five themes: People (enabling a lifetime of contribution), Places (empowerment and investment for local communities), the Social Sector (supporting charities and social entreprises), the Private Sector (promoting business, finance and tech for good), and the Public Sector (ensuring collaborative commissioning).
It presents a number of opportunities for heritage science, highlighted in a new NHSF briefing note, ranging from youth engagement and local communities to new communication channels and potential funding for demonstrating the social value of cultural heritage.
