Job Opportunity: Professor (Chair) of Heritage Evidence, Foresight and Policy, UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage

The UCL Institute of Sustainable Heritage (ISH) in London conducts post-graduate teaching and world-leading research with an international reputation in the fields of heritage science and sustainable heritage.

The ISH is seeking to appoint a highly experienced scholar as Professor of Heritage Evidence, Foresight and Policy, from January 2018.

The successful candidate will take part in multi-disciplinary research in Future Heritage, one of ISH’s key strands of research, and provide research and consultancy leadership in their field of expertise. They will develop a new Masters programme in Heritage Evidence, Foresight and Policy, and teach and supervise students at postgraduate levels.

The post holder will be expected to foster the new Academic and Heritage Partnership between ISH and Historic England and engage in external activities, to contribute to the ISH’s position as a leading international research and teaching institute.


The successful applicant will have an outstanding record of policy experience, research and publication in one or more of the key areas of cultural heritage, the historic environment or foresight, as well as experience of teaching at postgraduate level and curriculum development.
