NHSF Research Strategy Summit
On the 10th November NHSF held its Research Strategy Summit, with Historic Environment Scotland, in Stirling.
Over 90 people registered for the event, at which Professor Ian Simpson (University of Stirling) spoke about interdisciplinary research (presentation slides available below). Dr David Mitchell (Historic Environment Scotland) spoke about public engagement opportunities at the new Engine Shed (https://www.engineshed.org) in Stirling and Nancy Bell spoke about NHSF's 'Filling the Gaps' project to establish gaps in knowledge and techniques that remain 5 years after the publication of the National Heritage Science Strategy.
The summit invited contributions to defining the future priorities for heritage science research, including the adaptation of traditional buildings to the consequences of climate change, a need for new ways of enthusing others about heritage and a shift in how we translate research into practice.
