Industry and Innovation
NHSF seeks to develop stronger links with industry to improve the impact of heritage science research in commercial markets and strengthen the scope for collaboration between research and industry.
Industry and Innovation Workshop:
In November 2017, NHSF invited heritage scientists and potential industry partners to take part in a workshop held at the Tate. Presentations by Nancy Bell (Northumbria University), Dr Lyn Wilson (Historic Environment Scotland) and Prof. May Cassar (UCL Institute of Sustainable Heritage, and NHSF trustee) introduced the 2010 National Heritage Science Strategy and provided an overview of the value of Heritage Science to sectors and markets beyond heritage.
The event was an opportunity to discuss how the development of the Strategic Framework for Heritage Science in the UK and other NHSF activities can help researchers, companies and heritage organisations collaborate and work together as part of a unified heritage industry.
NHSF aims to encourage and facilitate collaborations between heritage science organisations and industry. To further this goal, NHSF has an 'Impact' working group which agrees annual programmes of work to contribute towards the outcomes in the 'Demonstrable social and economic impact' strand of the strategic framework.
